Publik Studio is an old movie theater which has been restored and rearranged to a working place, photo studio and location for events. I am very happy and lucky to have my office at this wonderful place! Inspired by the history of the building I have made a retro style movie poster. The illustration on the poster was based upon a photo shooting by Malin (stylist) and Anna (photographer) who are the founders of Publik Studio.
I have put together some inspiration for my street view illustration.
The buildings in my hometown are either in soft, creamy, vanilla colors, mustard yellow or rust/terracotta red (with a few exceptions of course).
I like it, it makes a nice harmony. But sometimes I feel that it is a little boring and that the city could need more bright colors, contrasts and unexpected combinations.
I am not talking only about facade colors but also about details as signs, trains, taxi cars and buses, garbage bins, street lamps etc.
The colors of what people are wearing on the streets also contributes to the “mood” of the whole city. In this town it tend to be boring, especially in the winter. Black and grey are very dominant.
So for my illustration I will try to catch the color scheme of my hometown.
But I will also add some extra spice to it. Hopefully it will inspire to a more colorful everyday life for all of us!
